Best and Worst Reads of 2024
Jan. 1st, 2025 01:26 pm2024 was an intense rollercoaster of a year! A LOT happened, but we can talk about that later. What we're talking about TODAY is The Year In Books. I read so many flippin' books this year. I would like to say it was my job, but actually I spent a significant amount of time misbehaving and reading whatever the heck I wanted to, and I have no regrets and no remorse and I would do it again.
I am absolutely cheating on this round-up, and I am giving series their own headings, so what is actually a five or fifteen book series is being lumped into one section. This list is not an in order ranking because I simply do not want to live my life like that. I am also going to talk about the books I read this year that really didn't work for me. Everything is subjective, these are all opinions...you know the drill. (If you liked one of the books I didn't, I do wanna know what worked for you, and the same goes for if you disliked one of my favorites!)

Ok, I am wrapping up writing this now because my nephew is here and I want to hold him. And maybe talk to my brother. And pet my dog nephew. Happy New Year! Here's to a great year ahead.

June and July Reading
Jan. 1st, 2025 01:24 pmAuthor's note: this draft was abandoned. I was going to write reviews of all of these books and now I am simply not going to, but here is a snapshot of what I read in June and July. I do find it hilarious I said these were "slow" reading months, like I didn't read a book a week. Sure, Jan.
I did fully intend to make a June post and then I just lost all track of time. My reading also slowed down a lot in the last two months! I fell into a new fandom and just lost my ever-loving mind. AKA began reading a ton more fic.
JUNE
Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
Hither,Page by Cat Sebastian
The Missing Page by Cat Sebastian
Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
Somewhere Beyond the Sea by T.J.Klune
JULY
Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood
The Sins on Their Bones by Laura R. Samotin
Vengeful by V.E. Schwab
Winging it by Ashlyn Kane and Morgan James
Captive Prince, Prince's Gambit and Kings Rising by C.S. Pacat

April and May Reading
Jun. 2nd, 2024 06:14 amHello! I skipped April, so this is going to be April and May. In April, I continued reading Percy Jackson and mythology books, as well as a few ARCs for work. In May, I read a horrifying amount of books - I actually do not know how I had time - and dove into romance novels, because in Florida it's basically Summer, and the mood is brainless. Let's go! I'm trying to put in more cuts this time, because otherwise the WHOLE THING will be too long.

March Reading!
Apr. 7th, 2024 09:39 amIn March I continued my spiral, my descent, my unhinged rat behavior. I have no regrets and no remorse. I have made a nest.( Read more... )
I already did an early February post because I needed to run my mouth on my opinions, so I'm not gonna talk about them much, but I will mention them here.
This month isn't going to be divided into books I read for work and books I read for fun, because I lost my mind and went on a spiral that I'm still on. If you're on Twitter, you've seen a bit of it! I'm carefully splitting my unhingedness between many people so no one is getting the full brunt but I am. Losing it. Because of that, this is more of a meandering post then previous reading roundups, reflecting on fandom and my own reading history. It's long and off topic and we're gonna roll with it.( Read more... )

OK, we're gonna have extra February book posts (Kay, isn't this a k-pop blog...) because I have opinions and I want to talk about them. ( Read more... )
January Reads
Feb. 5th, 2024 08:48 pmI was PROLIFIC this month!
I sort of hated how intense my two reading roundups got last year, so let's try it month by month this time! It should be a bit easier.( Read more... )

Top Played 2023!
Feb. 5th, 2024 08:33 pmI procrastinated on this because I hate playing favorites. It's so hard for me to pick my top of anything, but I will admit Spotify stats DO make that a bit more possible for me. So again, the rules are: songs released in 2023 that showed up on my Spotify Wrapped. Let's go!

Books I am excited to read in 2024!
Jan. 6th, 2024 08:46 amI read so many books in 2023! I feel like I talked enough about all the books I read in my previous posts, so now I want to talk about what I'm most excited to read in 2024.( Read more... )
2023 Writing Review!
Jan. 2nd, 2024 01:37 pm2023 was the first year I spent any time tracking my writing. Originally, I intended to track how much I wrote each day, but actually I found that... I hate that. I hate tracking writing word count. When I finally got into the habit of logging a word count each day, it was for NaNo in November. I'll talk more about that in a bit! But anyway, this is a summary of all the writing I did this year. ( Read more... )
Year End Reading Roundup!
Dec. 11th, 2023 08:51 amI read A LOT this year, and it's not over yet, so I could finish a few more books before January 1, but as always, December is a void, and those will simply be Lost To The Abyss. This is a continuation of my June Reading Roundup, with a list of all the books I read, finished, and abandoned. I didn't pick favorites because I simply have never been good at operating that way!( Read more... )
I am shocked to find that I have had Dreamwidth for one year! Over a year, actually, since my first post dates back to September 2022. It's been a very wild, wild year, and I feel like it just sped right past and I have completely lost all track of time. I feel like I've sort of fallen off on both reading my mutuals' posts, and posting myself, and as I am procrastinating writing my BigBang fic, I'm going to write a casual blog post!

June Reading Roundup!
Jun. 28th, 2023 04:43 pmHalfway through the year, I thought I'd take the time to discuss the books I've been reading this year!
At the start of the year I had a pile of 24ish nonfiction books I intended to read. I read a few! But after I starting working at the bookshop, my priorities changed. Now, I'm mostly reading pre-release ARCS and other recent releases we have in the store to help sell books. You'll notice as this list goes, the releases get more and more recent for that reason!
Secondly, while I didn't set out to read a ton of manga...I have been reading so much manga. Mostly trashy BLs, but a few good ones, too! This was my nonfiction break reads, but then I remembered there were a few I loved...and also just started having fun picking up trashy plastic wrapped volumes at the local bookshop where my in-store credit nets me free books.
So here is what I actually have ended up reading this year, as of June 20th, 2023.( Read more... )
