Today's animal is ELEPHANTS. I have no idea what point they were trying to make. None.
So Jaechan went home. Straight up I did not like him, so bye! Wasn't he the one who was fighting with Gunwook? I feel like he was but I am not sure. Anyway, I was not sad to see him go. Junhyeop, the tall boy, was VERY sad. Everyone had Big Feelings in this! I don't like Junhyeop, either, for the record. No reason. He just irritates me.
Yunho, the blonde, is a member of VAV and they just had a comeback! Fun fact! Also apparently he was a contestant on No Mercy, the show that formed Monsta X. Fascinating!
Clearly I have given up surprises. I like Google.
I just continue to think Gunwook is charming, and this show is giving me a lot of insight into how he felt when he found out he would debut in ZB1, since in this show he is consistently in the top half and does not make it, and yet in Boys Planet he was frequently not in the top 9, and yet debuted in the lower part. I forget his final rank, was he nine????
A few of the members of TAN are growing on me, though I won't mention them here!
I liked that this episode had more singing and dancing. The BTS group did so well! So did Replay and Eyes Nose Lips but I did not like Joah and I also do not like the song.
The changing the choreo was SO stupid and such a waste of time. I think Gunwook was correct when he said that setting themselves apart was important but so was learning the song. And they had so little time! They didn't have time to change anything, just learn the dance and learn it well! That will set you apart! So rolling my eyes a bit, there.
Nah, the one fighting with Gunwook is a different guy, he was transferred to team A during the last transfer. He also spoke aggressively to someone else in this episode too, so it seems like either it's a habit for him or he is getting a very evil edit.
Yes like 'don't be a decaying elephant carcass' OK SHOW
Agree, this show is definitely a must-see for the Gunwook Story. I can see both why he was confident and also why he struggled. It's a lot to be that good, that tall at his young age but also have to deal with the slings and arrows of kpop and especially in survival. I think he might have been 7 in BP line-up? Jiwoong was 8, and I know Yujin was 9 because he was last and his speech almost made him violate the labour laws for his age group :D
Yes!!! Gunwook omg truly I am walking away so in love with him???? He is just so precious.
You are totally correct, Yujin was last and I completely forgot. I stored in my brain: Matthew number three! Shanbin number 2! Hao number 1! And then proceeded to not care at all the other ranks because my only concern was them making it.
I DID NOT KNOW about Yujin almost violating the labor laws omsdfsdofasdkfhask that's hilarious and also a bad sign. He is so young! The only one I wish they had thrown back to cook a little longer, just because he is so young and the age gap is so wide.
Yes that's why they padded the whole thing all along and then suddenly were like KTHX THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!!!
The legal thing with minors is fascinating. For &Team they had a special 'omg we're watching our video drop live at midnight!' film, which pointedly did not include the youngest four members, who were in bed (and obviously not watching their first ever MV on their phones anyway....)
It is so fascinating. I see the logic of the law, but honestly I wonder how far it actually goes to protect them. I don't know much about it, but I wonder if there are enforced like, no training hours too or if that is the loophole.
I thought all the groups did well on the singing portion given the conditions. Obviously I am Replay biased though. While I was watching, I thought it seemed like an advantage to have a more cheery, energetic song because it's easier to get the audience engaged with it. Anyway, much to said in this section about the importance of choosing your assignment strategically (if you're able to choose.)
Juan and Jaeeok both have great voices. I prefer Jaeeok, but I spoiled myself, and he doesn't make it. :( Unfortunately, he hasn't debuted elsewhere, and it's not even clear from the sites I checked if he is still a trainee somewhere, which is too bad. He's clearly a talented singer and dancer and has a lot of drive.
Anyway, dancing mission. Some of the contestants were noting and it's obvious in this episode what leader potential Changsub has given his experience and personality. When you're short on time like these missions, it's really important to have someone who will make decisions and get everyone to agree with them swiftly. I haven't bothered to check the current set of 16, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's both the eldest and most senior here by a fair bit, which also helps a lot for authority lol.
Re: the 100 online judges results, I was honestly surprised that the results were as close as they were (53 vs 47) because the Changsub team definitely did better in my opinion. I kinda got the vibe that the other team might be suffering from poor editing in the broadcast version we saw because their performance had a lot more of ??? editing decisions and camera work, so maybe what the judges showed looked better.
The little dude who was in 16th/15th place this ep seems like he's gonna go through a narrative arc soon. I haven't looked, but I suspect he makes it into the final group given how he's been followed and framed so far. Which I feel kinda ehhh about because I don't think he's as strong of a candidate as other folks...if I remember correctly, he was one of the contestants who made it into the 16 either because of the online votes or a master's one-pick points. Honestly, I think the company WANTS him in the final group and is going to make sure he ends up the final seven however they need to. But who knows, maybe he will show his talents better in the upcoming episodes and impress me. To be clear, I like him fine, he just doesn't seem as capable as a lot of the other contestants.
Randomly, No Yoonho came onto my radar this episode because he said he likes 2NEI lol. I am a simple soul. I have thought that he seems like he has a pleasant and fun personality from what we've seen...since kmac says he is in VAV, I guess I will check him out there at some point.
Anyway, not gonna lie, the elimination kinda got to me. Not because I especially care about Jaechan leaving, but just because I have a soft heart and don't like seeing people lose. The big guy Junhyeop was clearly really torn up about it, which honestly endeared him to me. I like to see guys cry...what can I say, this is who I am.
From the next ep preview, it looks like there is a bit of a timeskip before the next portion. Maybe the boys can enjoy more pleasant weather from here on out instead of sweating constantly and getting rained on. Hope they enjoyed the little break.
Hmm, I must have BTOB Changsub stuck on my mind after watching Kingdom TT
I looked it up and the little dude I'm talking about is Hyunyeop, and I see that he DOES make it on to TAN, so I will be paying close attention to him in upcoming episodes because he really has not stood out to me so far beyond the show framing him as kinda pathetic.
I thought that elimination came across very harshly. I had no huge love for Jaechan but to just have ONE person go, in a show that hasn't previously worked like that, felt very... focussed? Like sorry you're just edged into 'not good enough'. And the way it interacted with the success of the group, so they had collective guilt. Mean!
Mmmmmm good leadership, crunchy salty good leadership. You love to see it.
They just looked so soggy. I'm worried they're getting trench foot. I mean, well done, show, for having a concept UNLIKE ANY OTHER but maybe there's a reason literally no one before or since has tried to form an idol group on a totally al fresco basis? (ALSO, gonna plug 'Siren: Survive the Island' here again because those ladies just powered on through wind, rain, fire, etc, and I would love to see them take on some of these challenges)
Loved having some more actual singing! I enjoyed Replay the most but well done Team A that was a very respectable 'Dynamite'. I'm so glad Team B decided to join Team A for the performance <3 I hope in the all the footage we didn't see there was a good meal in there somewhere.
I'm curious what format the next stages will take, whether they continue to shave off the lowest ranking ones or just accumulate points and wait till the end...

Yeah, I think they get to go home for a bit now!
I have no idea who you are referring to specifically but there is one member pretty low ranked who is gonna zoom up at least.
And obviously, Gunwook falls out! I do think these rankings are all over, which is interesting.
