So I went into this POST being sold on TAN, who I have listened to but don't KNOW KNOW. Like, vaguely I know them. It took up until this episode, when the boys got their names, for me to be like AH YES, I think These Boys are in the group.
I am trying very hard to STOP myself from looking up the group, lol.
So most of the boys were eliminated this episode! Goodbye boys, we will miss you, I hope you all succeed. None of the boys who went home are boys who I know have a later debut, so that is sad. I hope Kamden in particular does something soon, though I don't think he was ready to debut either here or with Bep1er. I just Like Him, and I want him to succeed.
And more time with Gunwook! My little BOY! Who I LOVE! I don't even have to be sad he doesn't debut here bc he gets more time to grow up and debut in Bep1er! (Yeah I do know their current name, IDC!) He is being maknae-fied so much LOL and it is KILLING ME but I do love him and I love ZB1 and I just think he is precious and I will follow Bep1er with my WHOLE HEART until they disband and then I will follow the boys which I love (Matthew and Gunwook) and I hope they go home and get good work from their agencies.
That was a tangent.
Anyway, it was nice to see more of them do the singing dancing! I have...not any thoughts on this. Singing dancing good. The boys ARE good. They do look hungry and the food continues to look terrible? I hope they are being fed more.
I guess now everyone gets to go home for a shower and a meal and a break and then they come back out? My original impression was They Stay Out In The Wild Until A Group Is Formed and then the judges watch all the footage and IDK but I guess that is NOT how this goes and also there will be voting so cool I guess.
Anyway this show plus the new Stars on Mars show has given me BRAINWORMS and I am like "Send the boys to "Mars" and whoever survives is in a boy group.
They have to do Mars Survival Tests and if they fail a test they DIE (get sent home) and the SURVIVORS form a kpop group and I just think it would be rad (insane but I do deserve it.)
Yes more activity for Kamden and others! Not to totally sidebar this into a Boys Planet discussion but for all I clearly have many Bep1er feelings, most of the personalities I was really into were in the non-debut half of the final 18, and I really hope someone scoops them up and makes use of them.
The food looks SO PALTRY I would need at least 3 of those meal tray things just for ordinary dinner let along if I was a teenage boy doing physical exercise all day in the elements.
I have just googled 'Stars on Mars' WELP, tbh I bet Boys Planet are eyeing that with significant interest for series 2...
My beloved boy (Matthew) and my Second Beloved (Gunwook) and my third runner up (Ricky) all made it, so I am flourishing. But there are definitely boys I want to see what is next for! I am hopeful for some of them...there are a lot of really good kids (adults...) on that show who I would love to see succeed like Kamden, Chen Kuan Jie (sp?), Haruto, Woongki (but like in the what does HE want to do way)
The food is so so sad. Idk if I could eat more then one bc it looks bland and bad.
I HOPE THEY ARE I WOULD BE SO THRILLED. BRB while I draft this fanfic bc I am solidly obsessed.
OK, I watched it... honestly, there are a lot of talented guys on this show, and it seems a shame that so many of them will be going home after this. I know it's just the nature of competition that there will always be winners and losers, but it still makes me kinda TT TT TT I hope those that were cut will have other opportunities in the future, if they decide to keep on this path.
There were many more names revealed this episode, but really the two guys who stood out to me the most are the contestant who talked about having to adapt his singing due to developing vocal nodules and the guy who was last for the group choreo session but kept a good attitude and kept going until he passed. I'm a sucker for the hard workers who don't get rewarded in the end...hang in there, boys.
I'm kinda confused about how the online voting for this worked. What content had been aired in time for people to see it and vote? Only the Stamina section? Or were people casting votes online based just on online profiles of each contestant before broadcast began? They mentioned that one guy had moved up the ranks due to online voters, so I was curious how that came to be since I didn't recall him being featured much in the broadcast so far.
As the one pick bonus points at the end really shook up the results! It's crazy how people who were ranking middle-to-bottom could suddenly shoot up just because they caught one person's eye during one performance. In some ways, it kinda made the tests and such seem irrelevant because plenty of folks who had their name revealed didn't make the top 14. (And wow, that must have felt frustrating!) But I think also the masters had seen all of these guys throughout the day they were there; they likely already had a few people they were favoring (consciously or unconsciously) so they were naturally drawn to them during the performance.
Yeah they are sending a TON home just as we were getting to know them. Apparently some of the Vanner boys are on this show? I feel like this show does not do a good job of letting me get to kow these boys, and I am wondering how many went on the show with the actual end goal to appear in the group? Like hmmmm
Yeah I am ALSO confused as to how online voting plus timelines worked out. I am like....what was the filming schedule.
One Vanner is on the show (https://kpop.fandom.com/wiki/Yeonggwang) - took me ages to figure out where I recognised him from. No others that I can find on a quick google but I can't reliably recognise all of them.
I THINK the others might be there too, from the way Taehwan and Yeonggwang talk about it, but I haven't seen them! There is a video clip of Taehwan talking to Yeonggwang that made me think a few others went on the show, and Yeongwang is the only one who did very well.
- 'Giraffes are known as the gentlemen of the wild' - well thank you, show, I am learning something every day - This really is talent show on hard mode, like, just watching more of the singing/dancing/rapping test in particular (although also a photo shoot in your sweaty three-day-old t-shirt with zero props! I would like to see many pro idols cope!) and thinking if you can sound good here you are genuinely talented. I also like how they're not being set up to undermine each other (yes I'm still recovering from that first encounter with the Mnet Edit *thunder and lightning*) - Chalk me up as also confused how this works now. Like, we've picked the group? It's Episode 3? There are ten more episodes to go? This has been airing retrospectively? But will include live voting? - My comments about not undermining aside, the 'judges randomly pick someone to give 100 points to' does ping my 'the house always wins'-ometer i.e. maybe the show had quite a clear idea of who they wanted through to the 14 from the start, regardless of how much these poor lads did push ups in the sun - SHOOTING AN MV IN ONE DAY WITH NO SHOWERS OR DECENT FOOD. HARD MODE. - 'posing sexily with a ladder' was not in my idol skills playbook and now it is. An educational experience
I was confused by that too!!!! I feel like what they meant was "these are the ones moving on" because 14 boys don't debut!
It is def on hard mode but they are doing so well! The singing is so strong and so is the dancing...and they picked up the dance! In a Day! While being Nasty!
This gives so much credence to the boys who ran full tilt into the water like yeah I too would want a bath!!!!
