Kpop Christmas Songs!
It's December, and my family will be putting up our Christmas decorations today, which means we are solidly into the Christmas Music Season. (Critically, it is ALSO the Hallmark Movie Season, for those who celebrate.) Which means it is time for me to share my favorite Kpop Christmas Songs! Unlike my Halloween and Birthday playlists, I actually do not have a Kpop Christmas Playlist, and I do not know why. But there are a ton of amazing, wonderful kpop Christmas songs that I want to talk about today. So without further ado, in no particular order, here are my favorite Kpop Christmas Songs.
Miracles in December by Exo M
This is a long time favorite. I listened to this song every Christmas before I was like, a kpop fan. I think the vocals are so, so pretty. This is actually just one of my all time favorite Christmas songs, period. Last year when I was in charge of the music at the company holiday party...I put this song on the playlist. And then my phone lost service, and my phone looped Miracles in December and two other songs for the entire duration of the party. Somehow, no one noticed or cared.
Funky Glitter Christmas by Nmixx
This is a new addition to the list! The song is so fun and cute - who can complain about girlies having a fun time with their friends? It's definitely a cheerful song to pep up your Christmas playlist.
Christmas Evel by Stray Kids
What IS this song? This is the most insane Christmas song I have ever heard. I love it to pieces. The first time I heard it was on my drive to work, and I had to sit in the parking garage in my car and play it again. "Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, I can feel the evil coming but Felix never bad" What the hell. I love how Felix always gets and English verse that is completely off the rails. This song is insane, and it is delightful.
24 to 25 by Stray Kids
I am not going to lie, I love EVERY SINGLE CHRISTMAS SONG on this ep. (Sorry to English Language Domino) This is a fandom Christmas song (STAY for Christmas...ok boys I do get it) and it is unintentionally hilarious. The lyrics are "A space just for the two of us that nobody knows, ayy
Under the stars, yeah, yeah twenty-four to twenty-five, bae" but the music video is of course all the members hanging out and having a good time. I thought you said it was just the two of us? The two of us, and your seven best friends, oh, ok, got it. xD
It's also just a really pretty and lovely Christmas song, though!
Winter Falls by Stray Kids
Sorry did I lie? I told you I was including all three. This is your classic Christmas Breakup Song, and a good entry into the genre. Delightful. We love to hear it. Just a good song for vibing. The fact this comes after 24 to 25 on the album is kinda funny like, first we have a stay with me for Christmas song, and then we have a "we've been broken up so long song". Relationships really don't last these days!
Christmassy by The Boyz
Another cheerful fun Christmas song! It's such a solid bop, it reminds me a lot about the 90s boyband Christmas songs I grew up with in the absolute best way. Furthermore, I adore the music video. I grew up in Florida, and while Christmas is still solidly in winter, winter is still tropical. We don't have snow, we don't have cold, it's generally pretty warm and sunny. So seeing a Christmas MV that more accurately represented my Christmas experience was delightful. Also Ace and I spent several hours pinning down exactly what school this MV was filmed at. We are cool and fun people.
Dear Santa by Girls Generation TTS
This song is new to me this year! I watched Queendom 2 and made myself a little nest in Taeyeon's fandom, and that has extended to the back catalog of Girls Generation songs that I didn't spend a lot of time on previously. Anyway, this is so fun and cheerful! I love it.
Merry & Happy by Twice
This song! Started my downward spiral into Girl Group-dom. One of my BFFs is a major Twice stan, and I stayed with her just before Christmas last year. I was already on a slippery slope into the girl groups, and she pushed me the rest of the way down when she showed me this music video. And then obviously this year I have just been living in the girl groups pool and having a great time. ANYWAY! This song! Whatever I do love it do I need to sell you on it? It's Twice, it's Merry and Happy! They are having a good time and you should play it.
Merry-Go-Round (Christmas Edition) by Astro
This is the only Christmas version of a non-Christmas single that has rights. Kpop has this thing where a group will release a Christmas version of their latest single, and most of the time I find it incredibly baffling. Butter, holiday version? WHAT? (IVE has one right now, too...) It's just bells added to the regular song, and it just sounds...very strange to me.
With the exception of this song. I don't know if it's that I heard the Christmas version first, but the regular version sounds hollow to me. The Christmas version has all the good sounds that make me happy. It's a good thing that Spotify Wrapped ends in October, because I basically alternate between this and Miracles in December from November to January.
